Have you ever wondered why in the world would I use twitter? Why would someone care that I am having a morning coffee, or taking the dog for a walk. As I have mentioned the numerous benefits of using twitter on many occasions, here is another way to look at it. Using a site called Twinfluence you can analyze your twitter profile to see just how effective you really are. Here are the stats from my profile:
As you can see, it starts by showing my rank which is #3,159 of over 24,000 profiles that it has analyzed. While that is nice to see me ranking pretty well, that ranking is not what mattered to me. The number that stands out is the second order followers. Currently, 1,516,637 are accessible to my tweets either from being a follower of mine, or being a follower of someone who is following me. It shows my potential daily influence is just over 8,000. That is one huge SOI available to me each and every day when I write a tweet. A good friend of mine, Jason Crouch is currently ranked #125 on the list with an influence on over 6.8 million! When you add to this all the wonderful applications available to use with twitter, like forwarding to facebook & myspace, the influence your simple tweet has is limitless.
So while you may think twitter is dumb or pointless, you may want to check some of these stats to see how much influence you really can have by using this social network. The results may just shock you!
