Myrtle Beach Real Estate

I am proud to be on His Team!

DadMy Father & I work together as The Blanton Team.  I have worked with him servicing The Myrtle Beach area now for almost 7 years.  During that time I have had many people ask how in the world can you stand to work with your father all the time.  They say "I know if I worked with my father I would go nuts!"  Well, my dad & I have a great relationship.

Granted at times we get on each others nerves, but together we are a powerful real estate team.  The areas I am weak in, he is strong and vice versa.  One of the biggest reasons I work with my Dad is because I am very proud of him and know how great he is at whatever he does.

Growing up, I seemed to have a lot of the same interests as my dad.   When he was young he began studying piano.  By the time he was 13 years old, he gave lessons to grown adults.  When he was in college he toured with a little known band called Chicago for several months while their keyboard player was on sebatical.  Music was one of his passions, and therefore, I tried to play any instrument I could get my hand on.  And still have a deep passion for playing music.

One of the greatest things happened about 2 years ago when the two of us joined together on our church's Praise & Worship team.  It was the first time we had ever actually played together.

In real estate, he has taught me so many things.  When I meet a client in person and we begin discussions they are dumbfounded by the wealth of knowledge & skills I possess.  I always tell them it is because I had a great teacher in my dad.  Together we have sold almost 200 homes in the last 3 years.  We have been the top agents in our office since 2001 and in 2002 we were the top in our entire company of over 250 agents.

The funny thing about 10 years before this, they told my father he would never work again.  He was in a catastrophic car accident while traveling to work as a superintendant of schools.  Someone rear ended him while sitting at a stop light going 55mph no brakes applied.  His laptop that was on the back seat went airborn and hit him in the back of the head giving him closed head trauma injuries.

A man that had set the record for the Doctoral exam at Temple University had to re-learn how to spell words like "cookie" & "excuse."  He had to learn how to walk & talk all over again.  When the Dr. told my father he would never work another day, I think that challenged him to prove them wrong which obviously he did.

I don't share this to brag about our successes, I share to brag about how well we work together and how proud I am to be a part of a Father/Son team. And even more, how proud I am of my father!

Happy Father's Day Dad!
