I was searching through some old blogs I wrote on my personal site where I found a great one I wrote a year ago almost to the day. It was written for a newsletter in my local church. Hope everyone enjoys!
Everyone has a gift & talent that God has placed in them. When Jesus was born the kings of the east brought Him gold, frankincense & myrrh & laid it at His feet. They brought Him their gifts to be used for the kingdom of God. It is time for us now to bring our gifts & talents whether it is singing, playing an instrument, teaching, preaching, playing a sport, dancing, or whatever it is & lay it at the feet of God. Let him take it & use those gifts to reach others lives & bring them into a relationship with Him. At this point in your life you may not know what your gifts & talents are, but in time as you seek after Him with all your heart He will reveal them to you and show you how to use those gifts.
In an interview with familychristian.com Chris Tomlin was asked what he went to college for. This was his reply: "I went to school for many things. I thought I would be a physical therapist, because I figured I could make a lot of money and I knew how to do it. I had such trouble with just doing music. How do you just do that? It's not the way you're brought up. My dad said, "Whatever you do, Chris, just get me a diploma." After many changes in his studies, Chris graduated with a psychology degree. But it wasn't until he teamed up with Louie Giglio that he began fulfilling Gods plans for his life of leading thousands of people in worship. Since then, he has written many of the popular praise & worship songs that are sung in churches all around the world. Songs like "We Fall Down", "Forever", & "Holy is the Lord". But, none of this could have happened until he submitted his gifts to God.
Did you know that in most churches only 20% of the people do 80% of the work? It is time for us to get up & start doing those things which God has called us to. The 20% needs a hand.... so let's get to it. God is counting on all of us.
