Today, I was just flipping through some stuff when I stumbled upon a pretty cool feature for Google called Google Blog Search. This is a part of the google search engine that only crawls blogs when you are searching for a specific term. So, as anyone would do, I immediately put in my keyword phrase of Myrtle Beach Real Estate
and was greeted with almost 6,000 posts instantly.
The part of my search though that really shocked me was when I began viewing the related blogs at the top for those keyword phrases, and low and behold, mine was there! How cool! These are the blogs that google has recognized as the most related to Myrtle Beach Real Estate.
So of course after I did this, I started having even more fun. First, I did a search of my name which found a bunch of articles where members had mentioned my name in a post. A lot of the articles were before I ever had google alerts set up, so it was kinda neat to find all this stuff where people had been inspired by something I wrote about real estate in Myrtle Beach.
Then, I decided I would do a blog search for my outside blog so I typed in myrtlebeachhomesblog.com and it automatically switched over to showing me results for my blog, but instead it showed me everywhere my blog had been linked! Most of those links were ones I had created, but I was amazed by some of the other ones I found.
I think from now on when I begin doing a search on a subject in google, I will start from now in the blog search area.
