So, Thanksgiving weekend is almost over and I thought I would take a few moments to share about my Holiday. My holiday began Tuesday Night as I left Myrtle Beach and headed towards Atlanta, GA to vist the family. We arrived safely with no major problems. We spent Wednesday relaxing and catching up with family.
On Thanksgiving, we enjoyed some really delicious food, with all the staples of a Thanksgiving meal. Including the wonderful can of cranberry gel & burn & serve rolls. After dinner, we watched Ironman on DVD which is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. The evening ended with a few episodes of CSI and the Eagles win against the Cardinals which was icing on the cake.
Friday Morning as we awoke, we were met by some really nice weather. Since the temperature was in the mid 60's my Father-in-law and I headed out and played some tennis. For the evening, we headed downtown to a fundraiser concert by John McCutcheon to benefit the Atlanta Food Bank. Now, while I am not a huge fan of Folk Music, I am a fan of talented musicians, and John surprised me greatly.
So far, the holidays had been awesome! By the title, you know something happened. Well, after the concert, we headed out to the car to leave and while loading Isabelle into the car, I noticed a black case on the ground. I leaned down to get a closer look. It was my Camera! I quickly picked it up to notice it had been soaked through. I nervously pulled out the camera and noticed that it didn't seem too wet, but that the screen had some funny lines.
Since it was pooring down rain, I decided to jump in the car and have a closer look there. Upon further inspection I realized that not only had the camera sat in the rain, but also had been run over by my vehicle when I adjusted our parking space to make more room for another car. This was a very bad thing.
See, not only do I love taking pictures of my little girl and the beach, but as a Myrtle Beach Real Estate Agent, you have to have a good digital camera to take quality pictures for your online marketing of home listings. I knew I could not go long without a camera, so after diagnosing that the camera was beyond repair, I began researching for a replacement.
My mother-in-law suggested we visit Frys Electronics. Upon entering we were met by a very helpful gentleman that explained a lot of details. They had a blowout price on one camera that caught my eye. It was a Lumix TZ5 from panasonic. Normally priced at $329.99 this camera was on sale for $197.00. It features a Leica lense which is one of the best available. So, we came home, charged it up and started testing it out. I leave you with a few pictures from the new camera which I am really enjoying!
One of the great features is the 10X optical zoom. I took this picture of my brother-in-law, Adam Horrigan from about 20 feet away.
So needless to say, my Thanksgiving has been an adventure. It is kind of like the adventure in selling real estate. You never know what is going to happen next!

whew... while I feel bad you lost a camera, I must say I'm relieved. I was worried all through your article that something REALLY bad had happened!
Based on those great photo's, it sure seems to me you found the way to make lemonade out of those lemons!
I'm sorry you had the mishap with your camera but it looks like everything worked out in the end. We have a Frys out here too and I love it. Enjoy the new camera and I'm looking forward to seeing some amazing Myrtle Beach photography in the near future.
Hi Jeremy;
Sorry about the camera, I think you pictures shows you had a good time anyway.
Jeremy- That reminds me of my camera story- we had just moved to Florida, to Loxahatchee, a super low crime rate place, does not even have a police dept. This was in 1995. We decided to take the kids to Lion Country Safari before we totally unpacked from driving all the way from Seattle to South Florida. We parked in a secured parking area after we did the drive through Safari. We went into the park area to see a few exhibits and such. The kids started playing with some huge snakes, I wanted some photos of them so I asked my oldest son to run out to the car and get my camera. I had a Nikon super nice camera and a camera bag that was full of undeveloped rolls of film from our trip. As he got there two guys were driving away, they had taken the entire lock and handle out of our van door, stole the camera and all the film, all my memories of the trip, our gun and the boys' game boys. The Sheriff did catch the guy, he had an alibi and we never found our film.
Hi Jeremy... OK, confess... you wanted a new camera and you ran over it on purpose. It's OK. We all want a new toy every now and then! :) j/k
Sounds like you've had a nice weekend with your family... what could be better than that?
I'm so happy that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving...but the camera thingy was heartbreaking...I KNOW! I haven't broken my camera, but my husband has lost it. GRRRRRRRRR ;-) It sounds like you found a great camera to replace the broken one. The pics are FABULOUS!! GBU~
I think I might be with Steve on this one...But I would like a new camera too...Think I will go throw it under a tire in the garage. (Under my husbands auto of course!)
I feel your pain....ouch!
Jer...
I enjoyed reading about your Thanksgiving escapades. I recently dropped my cell phone out of the car and managed to run it over, so I know exactly how you feel. But sounds like you got a great replacement at an unbelieveable price!
And then something else similar happen on Wednesday night ... ah. but that's for another post!
Nice blog entry, I really enjoyed the read!
Jeremy - it appears that it wasn't sad after all, love the pic of your little girl. Have a safe drive home.
Well, the camera thing was a big bummer! I love Fry's for just about anything. It is funny you mention the cranberry sauce out of the can. As a tradition I always have it available on the table. I make the other from fresh cranberries but it is just not Thanksgiving without the can. My friends and family tease me about it.
Wow - those pics are awesome! Seems like you were able to get a fantastic replacement! Other than the camera it looks like you were surrounded by friends and family and it sounds as though you had a great time!
Bummer on the camera Jeremy but it looks like your recovered just in time to get some nice shots taken:)
Even tho it had some bad it looks as tho it all turned out better than it started. And the start wasn't bad.
Thanks for sharing.
Jeremy,
You won't be disappointed with the Panasonic Lumix...We have 2 of them...the one with the Leica lens is awesome, and it has a proprietary rechargeable battery which I love!!! Thanks, Fran
Jeremy I am not buying it was an accident. I know you ran over it on purpose. Enjoy the new toy.
This was our 1st year WITHOUT the can of traditional Gel Cranberry sauce. Beth started making it from scratch 2 years ago and I find everyone prefers it that way. Still had a can in stand-by in case I was weak. The can remains in stand-by. Does that stuff go bad????
Was the camera an upgrade? If so, I might agree with John....
How about those E-A-G-L-E-S!!!!!
camera? schmamera! Look that the angelic face of that beautiful child!!! And that smile!!! WOW!
Jeremy... the Lumix is the same camera that I have (although I paid a lot more than you... 'cause I bought it about 1.5 years ago). it has great optics (Leica), it's very easy to use, the battery lasts for freakin-ever... the screen is a nice size (although some of the newer ones are bigger)... but overall it's a great camera!
congrats.
Jeremey~I feel your pain...nothing like losing a camera...to me, that's worse than an appendage! You won't be disappointed with the Lumix though. I bought one this Summer and LOVE IT!
Where have you been? Are you still vacationing and driving around buying new tech tools?
Jeremy - Good to see a new post from you, my friend! Such a great looking family. God bless your week.
Except for the camera incident it sounds like you had a great Thanksgiving. Eh, you needed a new camera anyway, right? :) Great photo's too. That baby girl is just cute as can be!
