Blizzard of 09 Hits Myrtle Beach...What is that white stuff in the air?!?

Well, on Tuesday January 20, 2009, the blizzard of the year blew into Myrtle Beach.  Temperatures were down lower than normal and that funny white stuff called snow was falling from the sky.  The snow continued to fall for a few hours and there was some major accumulation on the ground.

As your local Myrtle Beach Expert, I quickly grabbed my camera and grabbed a few shots.

Luckily, the blizzard only lasted a few hours and temperatures today are supposed to return back into the mid 60's!  That is why I love living in Myrtle Beach, SC!

Jer - As you may recall, we had snow here one night a few days before Christmas.  It didn't accumulate at all.

Jeremy I can not tell you how much this cracks me up.  Obviously the term "blizzard" has different meanings in different places!!

I didn't get any snow in my area of Myrtle Beach, but my friends in Conway kept telling me it was snowing.  Boo!  I did get some freezing rain that made walking the dog quite a challenge and all day I kept seeing cars with snow on them driving around.  Quite a sight in Myrtle Beach!

It kinda of makes you sick to think of snow at the beach.  Then again why not.

Well I didn't take any pictures...I think my camera would have jumped out of my hand and darted back inside the warmth of the heated house, but, it was like 24 degrees this morning in Florida....yes, Florida..and there was ice all over my car.  I don't know what's going on but it needs to go back to normal, my feet are freezing.

Your pictures of the devastating blizzard of 2009 in Mrytle Beach are Pulitzer Prize winning!  Lol!  Did you little girl get to toddle around in it for a few minutes?  I hope so!  Enjoy the balmy weather now... it's freezing where I am!

Jeremy - I think you posted the wrong pictures.....

All I saw was that someone had dropped a small bag of flour outside your house, and that some hoodlums had thrown some Cool Whip on your windshield ???

That couldnt have been real snow right ?!?!?!?!?! lolol ...

Blizzard indeed !!!! ....too funny !!!!!

Hi Jer,

That is not snow, it is frost!  Come to Missouri to learn about real snow........

It certainly is weird year for weather, today it is 50 here and tomorrow says to be 20, I elect 90 as my own personal temperature.

Good to see ya

Jeremy -

We had snow all day in McCormick, SC, too!  Ours didn't stick like what your picture showed.  I heard Coastal Carolina closed for the day, too.  Amazing!

Wow that is awesome ... Here in Austin, TX snow is also a rare occurance so when it does fall everyone gets excited.

Jeremy, all I can say is you must have a hugh freezer to find that much frost at one time in SC.

Nothing like a little snow in paradise.  It's been so cold here in New York City lately, that I would love to go to Florida and enjoy the weather despite the recent snow flurries.

Jer...

Wow, I didn't know that it snowed in Myrtle Beach! Looks like you had a few chilly days!

Jeremy,

Wait until Jesse Clifton gets a hold of you and this post.....he will probably have 3 tons of snow delivered to your yard.......(it feels awfully cold here too....it was 80 degree just before Christmas....what happened?

Posted by Chapman Realty Homes Brunswick Georgia over 3 years ago

I welcome Jesse's delivery!  It was warm like that here too!  I believe the temps will go back to normal starting today.  As for the schools...I believe they had a 2 hr delay the day after to "let the roads clear up" LOL

I remember when my father moved to Florence SC from Pittsburgh PA it snowed the first year he was there.  Somehow his snow shovel made the move and he was king of the street for the day.
