Things To Do In Myrtle Beach- Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland

A wonderful thing to do in Myrtle Beach this holiday season is to visit Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland.  It is located at BB&T Coastal Field.  It offers thousands of lights finely tuned to ten different songs.

This is Shadrack’s first year in Myrtle Beach, so I loaded the family up & took a drive over to see what it was all about.  It was $25 which covers everyone in your vehicle.  It takes about 30 minutes to drive through the over 1 mile of winding path of lights.  There are also a few places you can pull over and just enjoy the show. Here’s a quick video showing some of the Christmas light show:

My kids ages (3 & 1) were definitely entertained during the entire time.  After you finish there is a small petting zoo along with a few other games & vendors to enjoy.

They are open every night from dusk-10PM and will be in Myrtle Beach till January 8th, 2012 so take a trip over to BB&T Coastal Field and check out this great new holiday thing to do in Myrtle Beach.

Things To Do In Myrtle Beach- IMAX 3D Theater

I’d be lying if I said that every single day in Myrtle Beach offers perfect weather to be outside experiencing all of the wonderful things to do in Myrtle Beach.  Because of this, today I am going to share one of my favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach when the weather is less than stellar.  That is visit the IMAX Theater at Broadway at the Beach.

Truth be told, I am a major fan of the Big Screen.  I enjoy going to the movies and taking in great flicks whenever possible.  The IMAX Theater in Myrtle Beach is no slouch when it comes to big screens.  Standing at 60 feet tall and a theater that seats 400 at a time, this place takes the large and makes it grand.

A few months back my wife surprised me by taking me to IMAX to get my first experience at the theater here in Myrtle Beach.  We went to see Avatar in 3D.  Being as we had never seen this movie before, experiencing it for the first time in an oversized fashion made a good movie seem even greater.

There really aren’t ways to describe what it is like watching a movie here, the only thing I can do is encourage you to go and experience a movie here for yourself.  Once you do, you will realize how great this theater is and also a wonderful option of things to do in Myrtle Beach in the evenings or on less than stellar weather days here in Myrtle Beach.

Things To Do In Myrtle Beach- The SkyWheel

One of the newest things to do in Myrtle Beach is the brand new SkyWheel located at 1110 North Ocean Boulevard.  The brand new SkyWheel allows visitors to soar 200 feet into the air in one of their 42 climate controlled gondolas.

Prices for a ride that run 8-12 minutes in length are as follows:

Adult ages 12-64 are $12.00

Children 2 and under are FREE

Tickets are available online here.

In addition to this being a great thing to do in Myrtle Beach as a ride, it is also a spectacular thing to see at night as the one million lights put one a spectacular light show.  Here is a quick video sharing some of the awesome light show playing at night:

So, if you are looking for a unique thing to do in Myrtle Beach, check out the SkyWheel today!

Things To Do In Myrtle Beach- Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse

A favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach is to eat at one of my favorite places, Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse.  They have nice large Hibachi Tables where friends sit around their own personal Hibachi Grill and enjoy an entertaining dinner cooked by their own personal Chef. Each table will fit eight adults comfortably.

You will be mesmorized by all types of cooking tricks from flaming onions to erupting volcanoes of Soy Sauce Lava.  Watch as they make shrimp fly and toss them into your mouth. I once thought about trying some of their knife tricks at home, but upon more thought, I decided it would be safer to leave those tricks to the professionals.

One of the best parts of Miyabi is that they have early bird specials where prices are reduced $5-$10 on the specials.  Early Bird Specials usually run Monday through Thursday from 4-6PM.

My personal favorite is the steak, shrimp, & chicken special.  This meal starts with a salad, bowl of soup, shrimp appetizer, and freshly sauteed onions & zucchini.  After the preliminary appetizers you are then served an enormous mound of rice and your meats.  One thing for sure is to come hungry and be ready for a to-go box.

Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse has 2 locations:

  • North Myrtle Beach: (843) 449-9294
  • Murrells Inlet: (843) 651-4616

Pictured above:  Frankie Barth, one of my good friends and top chef of Miyabi.

So if you are looking for things to do in Myrtle Beach and would like an entertaining dinner with delicious food, check out Miyabi Japanese Steakhouse.

Things To Do In Myrtle Beach- Tupelo Bay Golf Center

Is golf one of your favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach?  If so, then you need to check out one of my favorite places, Tupelo Bay Golf Center.  It has a lighted Driving Range as well as an 18 hole Par 3 Course and a fully lit Executive Course.  Average distance on the Executive Course is 120 yds.  However, a few of the holes are just over 300 yards.  They also have golf carts available so you do not need to lug your bag across all 18 holes. If you prefer to walk the course, they do have pull carts available as well.

The best part of Tupelo Bay is that you can play their courses either during the day or even at night.  Thanks to plenty of installed spotlights, you can play these holes even after dark.  Since I am usually busy during the day, I take full advantage of the lit courses.  Also, in the summer when temperatures are hovering around 90+ degrees, it makes it very nice to be able to play in the evening.

The executive course features some great challenging holes that test your skills with narrow fairways, large sand traps, and large bodies of water.  Playing here will definitely sharpen your skills.  Which is one of the many reasons why this is one of my favorite things to do in Myrtle Beach related to golf.  As some may know, I am a professional army golfer at times down the course. (You know: left, right, left, right all the way down the fairway to the hole)

Here are a few photos from one of my trips to Tupelo Bay Golf Center:

Tupelo Bay is located at:

1800 Business 17 South ۰ Garden City, SC 29576
Toll Free 800-657-2680 ۰ (843) 215-7888

You can also find online coupons to save a few extra dollars here.  If you would like more information on this course, check out their website at www.tupelobay.com.

So if you would like to add golfing at night to your list of things to do in Myrtle Beach, I would definitely check out Tupelo Bay Golf Center.
