North Myrtle Beach Christmas Light Show

ShareTweet

This past weekend was my mother’s birthday and we wanted to do something fun with the family to celebrate her birthday.  So I loaded the family up in the van and picked up my mother to head to the North Myrtle Beach Christmas Light Show.  We tried to go to see these lights last year, but the day that we went they were unfortunately closed.

So, this year we double checked on their website that it was going to be open and headed up highway 31 to the North Myrtle Beach Sportsplex which is home to the light show.  This light show is a drive through style where you can enjoy the 1.5 mile long drive throughout the sports complex while viewing over 2 million lights festively displayed.  There are over 500 light displays with some as tall as 55 feet.  There is even a segment that is synchronized to music along the way.

North Myrtle Beach Christmas LightsAfter viewing the nice display, you can then park and go enjoy some of the other great things to do inside Santa’s Village where you can find a petting zoo, village treats, a train ride, ice skating, a 40′ inflatable slide, and a lighted tree top adventure.  To enter the light display is $15 per vehicle with up to 15 guests and then there are additional fees to participate in other activities around the village.

The park opens at 5:30PM and I would HIGHLY recommend if you are wanting to visit, to get there close to that time.  We arrived around 5:35PM and it only took us around fifteen minutes to enter.  When leaving around 7PM, the line to enter was backed up for miles.  My guess is that those waiting in line would be waiting there for close to 2 hours for entry.

My kids (ages 9, 7, & 3) all loved the light show and had an absolute blast in the petting zoo after.  If you have younger children, I would highly recommend adding this onto your to-do list during the holidays.

If you would like more information on visiting The Great Christmas Light Show of North Myrtle Beach, you can find all the details on their website.
